Our New Accelerate Blog Strategy

I’ll kick things off with the story of The Active Network. They caught my attention in conversation with Matt Matthews, principal at C3 Business Solutions—one of our Oracle Accelerate solution providers. C3 used Oracle Business Accelerators (OBAs) to help Active Network go live on Oracle Financials in two countries in just 33 days. Zowie!
The Active Network, based in San Diego, California, “delivers integrated technology solutions, marketing services and online media properties that encourage and enable participation in activities and events”. They’re about a $100 million dollar company and growing rapidly. That growth is both organic and via acquisition, including global expansion. They reached a point where it was clear that legacy systems were not keeping up with the related complexity in financial management and reporting. And, with a planned IPO in 2009 that wouldn’t do.
Steve Kemper, CFO at The Active Network, looked at other vendors but soon settled on C3 and Oracle. A major factor in that decision was Steve’s confidence that the project could be completed on time and on budget within a very narrow window of opportunity. With Oracle Business Accelerators and C3’s expertise, Steve’s IT staff were working with the Oracle Financials in a matter of just a few days. In “traditional” implementations it takes weeks to get to that point. Leveraging the industry best practices, the flexibility of Oracle applications, and the partner’s experience, The Active Network went live in well under two months.
